Usability Tests
Usability tests are offered by CSSALT to a range of corporate customers including international equipment manufacturers and design teams.
Courses for industry personnel - CSSALT
We offer a one-week long course for engineering and marketing personnel from companies actively engaged in supplying drugs, devices and services to anesthesia. Participants are exposed to anesthesia through visits to patient care areas including the operating rooms and through hands-on simulations of varying types (mannequin patient simulators and virtual simulations). Shorter duration courses for industry are also available upon request.
Development of educational materials for industry – VAM/CSSALT
To help promote patient safety, the CSSALT-affiliated Virtual Anesthesia Machine group works closely with industry to develop educational materials and training aids. Examples include neuromuscular blockade drugs, piston ventilators and skin prepping products, among others.
Product evaluation
Simulators provide reproducible and consistent platforms that can be used to objectively and efficiently evaluate products or prototype designs with very small sample size – CSSALT.
Organizations
Development of educational materials for societies and foundations – VAM/CSSALT
To help promote patient safety, the CSSALT-affiliated Virtual Anesthesia Machine group works closely with foundations and societies to develop educational materials and training aids.
Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation
The VAM group developed a free simulation of the 1993 FDA anesthesia machine pre-use check and a free online anesthesia machine workbook (funded by the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation).
World Health Organization/World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists
The VAM group developed a simple pulse oximeter simulation as part of the Global Oximetry – GO – joint project of the World Health Organization and the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists.
Donors
The VAM group generates simulations that are funded by private philanthropy. Examples are the Alveolar Gas Equation and O2 Circulation simulations, both funded by Mr. James H. Lybass and his dear wife, Mrs. Joh-Nana Lybass.
